Yes...the kids and I have survived the summer of 2012. The last 2 weeks have been brutal. Both kids at home, not great pool weather, and much anxiety over the start of school (Ava) has led to non-stop arguing over EVERY. LITTLE. THING. I am mentally drained by the end of the day. The light has been daddy who has been home for the last 2 weeks, and that has been wonderful. There have been a few bright spots...
We took a day trip to the beach with Molly, Riley, Aunt Tessa, and Mimi (and daddy too!)...
We cooked s'mores for dinner...
And, best of all, Ava got to spend 3 days and nights at Mimi's house, just her! This was so important to her, to be there without him. Just shows you the love she has for her little brother right now :) Mimi took her and Molly mini golfing and to lunch, she took Ava to the Lancaster Science Museum where surprisingly Ava entertained herself for almost 2 hours! Ava rollerbladed in the basement and just had a wonderful time. Mimi said she was the model child, just so well behaved. So...what goes wrong at home...why has she been unbelievably difficult to deal with ?
The funniest part was that Cameron barely seemed to notice Ava was missing. The first morning he woke up, came downstairs and daddy said to Cam, "Where's Ava?". Cam said..."she's still sleeping!" Later that afternoon we were driving back from the Farmer's Market and Cameron said to me in the car, "Mommy, when's Ava gonna wake up?". Hello...coming from a little guy who has become super observant and has amazing hearing (when he wants to) he just didn't seem to get the fact that she was not here! I'll just say there was lots of peace here over those 3 wonderful days.
Back to school for Ava on Tuesday. I can't wait!
