Ava got a ton of arts and craft projects for her birthday so lucky for me...Mimi was here over the weekend and helped her make the sand art and snow globe projects. Not my favorite thing to do. Monday morning Ed, Ava and I took the train into NYC for her 2nd birthday celebration. Our present to her was an American Girl Doll and lunch with the doll at the store. She had lots of firsts on this trip...a train ride (that was not on the Strasburg Railroad), a taxi ride, and a trip into the big city. She was really unfazed by the size, sounds and smells of the city! I was surprised by this, but maybe she is just still to young to grasp it??!!
Here she is picking out her doll McKenna.
Birthday lunch complete with singing and cake! McKenna had her own highchair right beside Ava.
Ava had a few AG gift cards to spend at the store and the one thing she absolutely wanted was a matching outfit to wear so she would match her doll. We tried to talk her out of it, but that is almost impossible to do with her when her mind is made up. So...here they are in matching outfits at Rockefeller Center. It was nice of Ed to coordinate as well :)
We walked through Times Square, stopped at a few more stores, then headed back to the train station. She fell asleep on the train ride home.
All in all, a great way to celebrate her 6th birthday. I hope she will remember this for a long time.
