So close...

Last weekend it was unusually warm, mid 80's, so we decided to head to the beach for the day.  We have lived in this area of the state for 6 years and never really realized we are about a 50 minute drive to a beach!  Growing up my family vacations were always in Stone Harbor and Avalon which is over 2 hours from our current town.  In the last year several friends of mine have told me about their day trips to the beach, apparently there are nice beaches an hours drive away (or less)!

We are not renting a shore house this summer (so sad) so my plan is to take the kids to the beach a lot this summer, hopefully we can make it there once a week...we'll see.  Anyhow, we tested it out, went to this beautiful town called Spring Lake, and it was wonderful.  Cameron loved it, which is my fear that he will be a constant whiner this summer.  Ava is a 'shore' thing...haha.  She LOVES the beach.  They played great together, played with some kids they met on the beach, then we went for pizza and came home.  All in the same day.  AWESOME.

Here is Cameron getting knocked down by a small wave.  He became very brave in the water (a little too brave) considering he did not have a suit on.  He was knocked over, he screamed, and Ava flipped out.  She was yelling, "He's washing away, he's washing away.!!!"  Ed stood there and snapped photos while I 'rescued' him.  Oh my.  Here's to some happy beach days this summer!!!
